Mandy Moore convinced us that you can wear pumpkin-orange and blue together

September 27, 2017

Think of all the fashion rules you were taught when you were younger. No black and brown together, no white after Labor Day, always match your belt to your bag. Looking back on these anecdotes, it’s easy to see how dated they are. Another rule we weren’t told as sternly, but perhaps internalized anyway? Never to wear orange and blue together. But thanks to Mandy Moore and her Rosie Assoulin dress in pumpkin-orange and midnight blue, we’re rethinking this opinion.

We can’t deny how refreshing it is to see an ensemble, one that’s so unexpected, work so well. But it is Mandy, so are we actually surprised?
#ThisisUs premiere party lewk- in my new favorite @rosie_assoulin dress. Thanks to the best squad in the land for helping a gal get glam (@streicherhair, @jennstreicher, @ecduzit and @micahmarcus)…. A post shared by Mandy Moore (@mandymooremm) on Sep 26, 2017 at 10:28pm PDT
Mandy wore this colorful slip to the Season 2 premiere of This Is Us, and she looked like autumn personified.
This slip took the basic silhouette of our favorite throwback dress style and turned the volume up, up, up. With color-blocking and blue floral embellishments on the left sleeve, this dress has plenty of personality. Plus, since it features a brocade pattern in a shining metallic, there’s some major royal vibes going on, reminding us that Mandy is queen.
Jason LaVeris / GettyMandy’s makeup was just as striking as her dress. With brows arched to the tens, a tease of orange eyeshadow, and a strawberry stained lip, this look is simple yet regal. Paired with her shoulder-length hair in soft, old school Hollywood curls, Mandy looks like a vision. We love the pairing of this dress with such a classic beauty look.
